I am on a Windows7 machine and I'm trying to get firefox to open on the centOS machine, but be displayed on my current screen. I have CentOS6.4 running on a late model Dell. I get xhost: unable to open display “IP:0.0”. When I put export DISPLAY=”IP address:0.0″ ip address being my windows8 desktop.
Xming can t open display windows#
My windows machine is not the problem since it works with others CentOS Servers. Trying to access X11 my CentOS 6 x32 small Linode VPS through SSH Putty/Xming (enabled X11 forwarding on options). grid122]$ export DISPLAY=:0 grid122]$ xclock No protocol. I have a haunch that it security related but I lack the right knowledge to debug it. usually export to DISPLAY solved the problem. I'm trying to open GUI installation from shell without success so I tried first to open just xclock but was unable as well.
Run a client on remote computer: "xclock" for example. Set DISPLAY environment variable: export DISPLAY=:0.0. Set local (Centos) box to allow remote X clients to connect: "xhost +". My windows machine is not the problem since.
